The teddy bear is not that old
Nice to know is that the teddy bear does not have a very long history. There are several stories going around about who designed the first teddy bear. The battle is between Margret Steiff from Germany and Morris Michtom from America. Both introduced a teddy bear on the American market around 1902. Margret, a seamstress by profession, started designing the first dancing bear in 1897. In 1902, she brought the first teddy bear made of plush on the market and in 1903, an American buyer bought this bear. This caused an enormous growth, because in 1907, 1 million teddy bears were produced by Steiff. In about 120 years the design changed. There are many different types and also the use of materials has changed a lot. Today, it are soft toys that children can play and cuddle with.
