What is a good changing pad?
A good changing pad is sturdy and has a raised edge so your baby can't roll off it. They have a filling of firm foam and are finished with a plastic layer or a dirt- and water-repellent layer. This way, the changing pad stays clean in case of accidents and when you wash your child. We advise you to put a changing mat cover over it so that your baby does not lie on the cold plastic.
Don't forget to get some extra changing mat covers
When your baby is a newborn, you will have to wash the changing mat cover regularly, because an accident happens easily ; ). It is also nice to replace the cover for a clean one every now and then. So it is wise to have a number of changing mat covers.
The nice thing about changing pad covers is that you can match them to the theme of the baby's room. There are many different covers available, in various colours and prints. So you can choose a cover that suits the theme of your baby's room.
We do advise you to use changing mat covers made from natural materials such as cotton. This can also be a terry cloth or a muslin changing mat cover (because these are usually made of cotton). For example, Garbo & Friends has great cotton muslin overs. Almost all separate covers have an elastic edge at the bottom so you can easily pull the cover over the pad.
